Who can take part?
This community is only open to those who are previous participants of the Post-16 GCSE/FSQ Mastery Specialist programme (i.e. Year 2).
What is involved?
After completion of the first year of the programme, participants join a collaborative community of Mastery Specialists. Participants will continue to deepen their understanding of mastery teaching, refine classroom practice and support departmental development.
The community is structured to include four days of participation in NCETM-led central events, with preparation tasks.
In addition, participants join their local Maths Hub’s Local Leaders of Maths Education community.
What will you learn?
- Your students will develop a secure and connected understanding of the maths they are learning
- Your students will report increased confidence in using maths
- You will continue to develop an understanding of teaching for mastery and support the department and leadership in creating a coherent curriculum and a culture of professional learning
- You will work within your own department to develop a culture aligned to the principles of teaching for mastery
What is the cost?
This community is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme so is free to participating schools/institutions
WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
If you are already training as a Post-16 Mastery Specialist, your local Maths Hub will automatically enrol you for this community for Year 2 of the programme and will be in touch with information about the sessions. Please contact the team if you have any questions.
